Que Deus ajude aquela pobre gente e que Jesus repita com todos eles, vivos e mortos, o feito de Cafarnaum quando diante de toda uma multidão diz a um paralítico: ..."Filho, os teus pecados estão perdoados. ... Levanta-te, pega a tua cama e vai para a tua casa!"

As catástrofes como essa nos fazem (e deveriam mesmo) pensar e também agir de forma que ajudássemos a aliviar a dor e o sofrimento das pessoas. Independente de nossas crenças metafísicas. Deixo como complemento um comentário do Richard Dawkins que saiu hoje no USA Today (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/religion/post/2010/01/atheists-haiti-earthquake-doctors-without-borders-red-cross/1) : "the nature is supremely indifferent to human affairs and sadly indifferent to human suffering. Those of us who understand this reality are sometimes accused of being indifferent to that suffering ourselves. Of course the very opposite is the truth: we do not hide behind the notion that earthly suffering will be rewarded in a heavenly paradise, nor do we expect a heavenly reward for our generosity: the understanding that this is the only life any of us have makes the need to alleviate suffering even more urgent."
